COVEcast: Robert Waldo Brunelle Jr., a teacher, painter, cartoonist, and illustrator, explains some of it

Robert Waldo Brunelle Jr. in his home studio in Jericho, Vermont

Robert Brunelle Jr. - thanks to his work ethic and comic strip, “Mr. Brunelle Explains it All” - may be one of the most productive and recognizable artists in Vermont. He has produced literally thousands of paintings of Vermont buildings, landscapes and people, kept up a regular political cartoon for decades, and illustrated books for authors like Joseph A. Citro. And that’s just the beginning: He was a full-time art teacher at the Browns River Middle School for 30 years, and caregiver for his wife who has two chronic conditions, Tracheobronchomalacia and Trigeminal Neuralgia. Brunelle, a seventh generation Vermonter, talked with us about his childhood growing up in Rutland, the challenges of teaching and how he finds creative inspiration in his busy life. Learn more about Brunelle and view his artwork on his website.
