Vermont’s long-term care statistics are sobering
One in three personal care attendant positions at home health agencies are vacant.
Three of 14 adult day centers have closed due to staffing issues.
Ten Vermont residential care homes have closed since the pandemic began.
Our coalition of care and advocacy organizations recognizes this is an unsustainable situation. The failure of Vermonters to maintain a system with competent, affordable and reliable care for an aging population will doom future generations to profound social, economic and workforce crises. It’s time we take this essential need seriously.

When writing to an elected official:
Always give your name and the town where you live, especially if you are a constituent of theirs. They want to hear from you!
Make your request clear.
Share your own story.
If you don't hear back, you can nudge them. They should listen to you. You are a voter! You can find out who your legislators are at: legislature.vermont.gov/people
It is helpful to contact all of your legislators, no matter their involvement currently with the bill. If all goes well, they will see it sometime this session. We need to convince them that this is a priority!
