Age Strong Vermont is building an age-friendly state
With the passage of the Older Vermonters Act in 2020, the Vermont Legislature tasked the Departments of Disabilities, Aging, and Independent Living (DAIL) and Health (VDH) with developing an action plan for aging well with the goal of building an age-friendly state.
The Age Strong Vermont plan will serve as a roadmap for Vermont state agencies and lawmakers, business owners, social service agencies like COVE, town and city planners, and the health-care industry to build a coordinated and efficient system of services with the overarching goal of enhancing and securing the right for Vermonters to age safely and happily while maintaining dignity and respect.
The plan, when drafted, will include critical subjects like housing, health care, social connection, caregiver support, financial support and community design. COVE is part of this process, and we’ll keep you informed about how the plan evolves.
