REACH Care Bank

OUTREACH & TRAINING COORDINATOR

The Reach program builds community networks that improve the quality of life, with an emphasis on helping elders stay living in their homes through the reciprocal exchange of volunteer hours.

Under the supervision of the Reach program director, the outreach and training coordinator will take primary responsibility for coordinating public outreach activities; recruiting program participants; providing support and training for Reach members; presenting events such as concerts, forums, community dinners, etc.; and supporting fundraising efforts. The outreach and training coordinator will join a staff team of three others, and will liaise with staff of many other organizations. Work will be conducted at Reach’s Montpelier office, with occasional activities in nearby towns.

Funding for the position is provided through a grant from the U.S. Administration on Aging, administered by the City of Montpelier. The grant will fund the next 15 months of operations, after which it is intended that the program will be financially self-sustaining. Applicants should be enthusiastic about working in a creative, egalitarian environment and adapting to the challenges of implementing a first-of-its kind program for the public good.

Reach Care Bank is a non-profit membership program/organization similar to a co-op; structured on the time bank model, its members provide volunteer services for credits that they can then exchange with other members for other kinds of services. Reach facilitates the exchange, keeps track of credits earned and spent, and helps assure the quality of service and the security of members. People of any age can join and can trade any kind of services with other members; however, REACH endeavors to direct services to elders with the intent to keep them living in their own homes and improving their quality of life.
